Exciting Results with Injection Darbepoietin Alfa and Pegfilgrastim in Patients with Decompensated Liver Cirrhosis

چکیده

Dysregulated erythropoietin (EPO) plasma levels may play a role in the patho physiology of chronic liver disease (CLD) [1] because chronic anaemia is frequently observed in patients with liver cirrhosis. Some reports have used regular short acting Erythropoietin as well as low dose long acting Erythropoietin and regular short acting Granulocyte colony stimulating factor (Filgrastim) in liver cirrhosis patients with significant benefits to patients [2,3]. There is no report of use of high dose long acting erythropoietin (Darbepoetin Alpha) and pegylated granulocyte colony stimulating factor (Pegfilgrastim) in patients with decompensated Liver cirrhosis. بررسی ارتباط بین MELD (Model of End Stage Liver Disease) و لیپیدهای سرم در بیماران سیروز جبران نشده (cirrhosis Decompensated)

Background & Aims: The liver plays an essential role in lipid metabolism. For reduced liver biosynthesis capacity, low levels of triglyceride (TG) and cholesterol (TC) is usually observed in chronic liver diseases. We conducted this study to determine the relationship between serum lipids and MELD score level in patients with decompensated cirrhosis. Materials & Methods: A checklist was prep...

Evaluation of ammonia metabolism in the skeletal muscles of patients with cirrhosis using N-13 ammonia PET.

OBJECTIVE Skeletal muscle is said to compensate for the decreased ammonia metabolism in patients with cirrhosis. Branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) are being used as a treatment for hyperammonemia, and are believed to decrease blood ammonia by consumption of BCAA in skeletal muscles. We examined ammonia metabolism of the skeletal muscles in patients with liver cirrhosis after administration of B...

SAFETY AND EFFICACY OF INTERFERON ALFA FOR THE TREATMENT OF CHRONIC HEPATITIS C INFECTED SUBJECTS WITH TRANSFUSION DEPENDENT THALASSEMIA IN IRAN

Up to 30% of Iranian adult multi-transfused thalassemic patients are infected with hepatitis C virus (HCV) which can intensify the progression of liver disease caused by iron overload in this group of patients. Our aim was to assess the biochemical and virological response of interferon alfa (INF-α) and its safety in thalassemic patients with chronic HCV infection. This trial was a single c...

Hepatopulmonary syndrome is associated with the presence of hepatocellular carcinoma in patients with decompensated cirrhosis

BACKGROUND Hepatopulmonary syndrome (HPS) is a relatively common complication in patients with decompensated cirrhosis. Our aim was to evaluate the prevalence of HPS, its clinical impact, and the possible association between HPS and characteristics of patients with decompensated cirrhosis. METHODS Patients with stable decompensated cirrhosis admitted to our department and assessed for HPS wer...

Concise review: Interferon-free treatment of hepatitis C virus-associated cirrhosis and liver graft infection

Chronic hepatitis C is a major reason for development of cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma and a leading cause for liver transplantation. The development of direct-acting antiviral agents lead to (pegylated) interferon-alfa free antiviral therapy regimens with a remarkable increase in sustained virologic response (SVR) rates and opened therapeutic options for patients with advanced cirrhos...
